Derby café and restaurant to close for good this weekend

The owners of a Derby café and restaurant have announced its closure just two years after opening in the Cathedral Quarter.

Elements Tea and Coffee House, which is based in the Royal Buildings, Victoria Street, will close for good on Saturday October 31.

Owners Pete and Stephanie Marris revealed the news on Facebook to the dismay of customers.

The said: “It is with sad hearts that we have decided to close Elements Tea and Coffee at the end of business on Saturday 31st October.

“We would like to take this chance to thank you all for of your support, custom and friendship over the last two years. It has been an absolute pleasure to get to know you and we wish you all the very best for the future.”

As well as a passion for tea and coffee, the cafe served an all-day menu, which included vegetarian, vegan and dairy-free dishes, made with produce from artisan suppliers.

The venue also started offering customers a fine-dining experience with local chef Joe Wood, after hosting a number of pop-up dining events that were well received by Derby’s foodies.

Regulars said they were gutted by the decision to close the venue.

One responded: “Really sad to hear this – you were easily our favourite coffee shop! Wishing you all the best.”

“Oh no!! You were the only place I would have coffee, in Derby! I will miss you, guys,” said another.

To clear loose leaf tea, coffee beans and retail items, they will be sold with 25% off this week.
