Vaccinations top 100,000 in Madison County

WOOD RIVER — More than 100,000 COVID-19 vaccinations have now been administered in Madison County.

According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, as of Sunday a total of 103,707 vaccinations had been administered in the county, including 63,873 people receiving at least first doses and 39,834 — or 15.06% — fully vaccinated as of Sunday morning.

The IDPH on Sunday also reported that 19.32% of residents in Jersey County was fully vaccinated. Other fully vaccinated rates were 18.5% of Greene County, 15.94% in Macoupin County and 16.95% in Calhoun County.

The IDPH on Sunday said 5,341,895 doses of vaccine had been delivered to providers in Illinois. About 414,900 doses have been allocated to the federal government’s Pharmacy Partnership Program for long-term care facilities. This brings the total Illinois doses to 5,756,795.

A total of 4,706,502 vaccines have been administered, including 361,886 for long-term care facilities. The seven-day rolling average of vaccines administered daily is 95,171 doses.

Starting Monday, higher education staff, government workers, and media will be eligible for vaccination at the more than 900 location in the state’s provider network. Beginning Monday, March 29, food and beverage workers, construction trade workers, and religious leaders will be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine.

The IDPH on Sunday also reported an additional COVID-19 related death in Madison County, a man in his 70s.
