Ingredients

    For the Strawbery-Basil Syrup:

  • 2 cups Strawberries, halved and tops removed

  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 cup Water
  • ¼ cup Fresh basil leaves

    For the Strawbery-Basil Limoncello Martini:

  • 1 oz. Strawberry-basil simple syrup
  • 1 oz. Limoncello

  • 1 oz. Vodka

  • 1 oz. Freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • Ice
  • Fresh strawberry for garnish, optional

  • Fresh basil bunch for garnish, optional

  • Lemon twist for garnish, optional

Directions

    To make the Strawbery-Basil Syrup:

    1. In a small saucepan, combine the strawberries, sugar, water, and basil for the simple syrup.

    2. Stir constantly to dissolve the sugar and mash the strawberries as the syrup cooks to help absorb the strawberry flavor.
    3. Remove from the fire as soon as the sugar has dissolved.
    4. Steep for at least 10 minutes to ensure the full flavor has been extracted.
    5. Strain, pressing down on the strawberries, and chill in an airtight jar in the refrigerator. You can do this several weeks in advance.

    To make the Strawbery-Basil Syrup:

    1. In a cocktail shaker, combine the strawberry-basil simple syrup, limoncello, vodka, and lemon juice with a handful of ice.

    2. Shake vigorously for 30 seconds with the top on.
    3. Fill a chilled martini glass halfway with ice.

    4. Garnish the drink with a strawberry, basil leaf, and lemon twist, if desired. Enjoy!

Recipe Note

For best results, chill the serving glasses. A cold glass will help keep your cocktail delightfully chilled.
