My friends, we’re here. We’re at the end of a year that’s been heavy in a lot of parts, leaving us looking for a little extra comfort and brightness. Over here, I’m all about comforting myself through simple rituals — especially as the weather gets cooler and the air gets crisp.
For me, that takes place a lot with my morning beverages. Sometimes I go for matcha, sometimes coffee, and sometimes a steaming hot mug of tea. Rituals have been even more important to me this year as a way to keep trying to keep rhythms and flows as things have continually shifted.
This year, I’ve been going back time and time again to my favorite matcha latte, an energy-boosting, warming pick-me-up great for any time of the year. As the temperatures drop, I find myself back at the warm nut milk, making a quick gratitude list, and taking a few minutes just for me. During the winter, I love enjoying this hot, but it’s just as delicious over ice, too.
Makes 1 serving
Feel free to add in an additional teaspoon of collagen, coconut butter, cinnamon, or adaptogens for a little extra health boost. Enjoy, and make it into a ritual — I promise, it’s worth it.
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup nut milk, or milk of your choice
- 1/2 teaspoon matcha powder
- 1 teaspoon pure maple syrup (optional)
Pour 1/2 cup of water and nut milk into a saucepan over medium heat, and bring to a simmer. Place the matcha powder in a blender, and pour the hot milk mixture in, adding your choice of sweetener, if using, and any other additions. Blend on high speed for 20 seconds before serving.
