You know how some Led Zeppelin albums, like “Houses of the Holy,” seem to go better with warmer months? Craft-beer makers are similarly in-tune with the seasons.
Recently, I reached out to Huntsville-area breweries to get recommendations for their best beers for summer. Flavorful handmade suds perfect for the pool, lake or beach. Below are picks thereof (from the nine breweries that participated) listed in alphabetical order by brewery.
Fractal Guava Mango Sour
“It’s a kettle sour with tons of guava and mango,” says Justin Wenz, Fractal’s taproom manager. “Tart, sweet and packed full of tropical fruit flavors that make you feel like you’re on the beach. It’s super refreshing.”
ABV (alcohol by volume): 5.1 percent
To-go packaging: 16-ounce cans
Backstory: “When we first opened,” Wenz says, “we knew we had to have a sour, so we workshopped some flavors and found guava and mango go perfectly together. It’s become one of our best sellers.

ABV (alcohol by volume): 4.5 percent
To-go packaging: Cans, growlers
Price: 12-ounce can $5, 16-ounce can $6, 32-ounce growler $10, 64-ounce growler $18
