Silvia Counts knows Woodhaven.

She grew up in Woodhaven, graduated from Woodhaven High School, her three children are WHS graduates and now, she’s opening her first business where her heart is — in Woodhaven.

Counts is the owner of Be Well Nutrition, 23240 Allen Road, which she dubs as “a healthier option for fast food and good vibes.”

The business had a soft opening at the end of last month.

With just a few weeks of opening its doors to customers, the establishment is making a name for itself through its shakes, teas and iced coffee drinks.

The pink bliss is the popular flavor of the month.

The shakes are packed with enough nutrients to serve as a full meal replacement, with less sugar than a banana, Counts said.

Thus far, the chocolate cookie dough, birthday cake and oatmeal raisin have emerged as customer favorites.

For those looking for coffee, the establishment offers a house blend and mocha flavor.

Counts said the goal is to deliver something more than shakes and energizing drinks though.

Customers can take advantage of health and wellness coaching, as well.

The coaching will offer assistance with nutritional lifestyle changes that can last a lifetime.

Counts is a certified health and life coach and said she is committed to be a “forever learner.”

She is already enrolled into mastery level courses and her plan is to continue her education even more as a certified functional nutrition counselor.

For more than a decade in her former career, she walked emergency room corridors, hospital hallways and doctor’s offices watching people being treated for chronic diseases.

Now, she works to develop three levels of change — behavior (habits), and belief and identity — understanding the positive intent of why people do what they do, and shift into mindsets that serve them.

Counts has 10 employees and is thrilled the business has been able to open to such a good start, especially during a pandemic.

“I am blown away with how busy we are,” Counts said. “We have been blessed with repeat customers.”
