It’s Theme Park Food and Drink Week in Woodland, and downtown restaurants are teaming up to serve up some favorites to get customers to support them during the pandemic. Some businesses report sales are down anywhere from 50 to 80%. This week’s Theme Park Week is giving them hope to keep their doors open.Nine restaurants are participating, including Kitchen 428, Zest Pastry and Main Street Lounge. Customers can enjoy Roller Coaster blended energy drinks, Dole Whip slushies, Mickey Mouse pizza and more. All of the items were inspired by places like Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, Legoland and Dollywood. With theme parks shut down for nearly a year, local businesses thought it would be great to bring the community some foods they’ve been craving during the pandemic. “It’s been very difficult, difficult for all of the business. We have known some businesses that have closed, and it’s very unfortunate but we do try to stay strong. Doing this kind of food experience for our guests, I think it will get us noticed and attract a little bit more people, which we really need,” said Toby Barajas, owner of Main Street Lounge. “We are down definitely 75% in business from last year. Some days are good. It’s just kind of trying to hold on for dear life and hope we make it through the end,” said Christy Hayes, owner of Kitchen 428 & Mojo’s. Theme Park Week in Woodland goes through Saturday. Menu items and participating restaurants are featured on the Downtown Woodland Facebook page. Yolo County is expected to move into California’s red coronavirus tier Tuesday afternoon, allowing restaurants there to serve some customers indoors during Theme Park Food and Drink Week.
